Patriotic Tag Tutorial and Giveaway

Hello friends!

Thank you for all the well wishes on my new job!
I love it!

Today we are sharing a patriotic tag tutorial!

I saw this cute little solider on a vintage
boy's birthday card in my stash and thought he looked
patriotic and perfect for a tag!

Start by printing and cutting out this image.

Choose your tag. I am using a #8 size manila tag,
but you can cut one from cardstock or use whatever you prefer.

Cut a piece of patterned paper to fit your tag.
I used a scrap that was slightly smaller than my tag.
Adhere to tag.
(I used paper by Pink Paislee's Declaration line)

Cut a coordinating piece of patterned paper to fit the top
of your tag and tear across the bottom. Adhere to tag.
I used Frayed Burlap Distress Ink around the edges of the
paper and tag to give it a nice vintage look.

I then cut a 2 inch star from white cardstock.

I used a score board to score along the points of the star.
If you don't have a score board, you can most likely
use your paper trimmer as a guide to score.

Now start folding along the score lines
until the star is 3 deminsional.

Tie a piece of ribbon through the top of your tag
and then adhere star to the tag.

Take a fine tip brown marker (i used Walnut Stain
Distress marker) to add faux stitch lines around tag.

Adhere vintage image. I used pop dots
 to make him stand out.

Next, I took silver glitter glue and outlined the tag.

Then, I took a sheet of red rhinestones, adhered
them along top and bottom of tag to add some bling!

I then added a small vintage button patterned
circle to the center of the star, to add a little more detail.

Then, I took red, white and blue washi tape,
ripped off a few small pieces and
adhered at random around the tag.

Next, I added a small red paper rose to the tag.

That's it!
I love making tags and I hope you
 enjoyed this little tutorial!
Leave a comment on this post and I will
randomly pick a winner on Tuesday,
July 3rd to win this tag!

Have a wonderful weekend, Lindsey

Scrap-a-Palooza Crafting

Hello friends!
This past Saturday I was at big scrapbooking event in our area,
 called, Scrap-a-Palooza by Scrapbook Generation.
It was 13 hours of non stop scrapping!
Here is my table, where I am working on a mini album.

I got there at 8:00 a.m and the line was already wrapped
around the building!

This is a big event which holds up to 300 people!
Scrapbook Generation also brought a full on site store
with so many cute new paper lines to tempt me with!
There we're also gourmet cupcakes
that were way too tempting and very tasty!

Throughout the day, I also taught a mini class and 2 demos.
Don't look too close, but there I am during my class!

Here is the finished album I created while there.

This album was created using the Messages line
by Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker. It was so fun,
because I was sitting next to
Nikki Sivils while using her paper!

I loved the theme of this paper with it's cute
 phones and typewriters!

I also dyed seam binding with Wild Honey
Distress Ink to coordinate with the paper.

This album has been listed here on ebay.

It was a super fun day, but oh so exhausting!
It took all day Sunday to recover!

Wishing you happiness, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - Instagram Pictures

Hello dear friends!
I sincerely want to thank you all for your
kind words, well wishes and prayers on last
weeks blog post about my husband's surgery.
I am very happy to report that he is doing well!
He had a colon resection and will be off work
another 6 to 8 weeks.  I am taking Very
good care of him:)

We recently celebrated our 33rd wedding
anniversary and he surprised me with a new
iphone!  I didn't think I was smart enough to
use one, but have found it to be easy!

One of the reasons I had wanted one was
because I was
so entralled with Instagram pictures!
I wanted to be able to take those cute little
pictures, too!

The pictures I am sharing in this post are all
ones I've taken and edited with Instagram.

The church picture above is the church my
grandma went to when she was alive.

The name of this creek is Swan Creek.  The
water is clear as glass!

Independence Day is coming up soon and
I wanted to take a flag picture.  I thought
it turned out pretty as it was waving in the wind.
The great thing about Instagram is that even
though I am not a great photographer, I can
still take pretty pictures!

Thank you all for stopping by for a visit today!
Let me know if you love Instagram pictures, too!
Have a beautiful day!
Love, Twyla

A Crazy Crafter

Hello friends!
Today I thought I would share a couple
 P.I.Ps ( projects in process)!
This first one is a new mini album I'm starting using
Graphic 45's new A Ladies Diary paper line.

One of my favorite techniques right now is to take this
Martha Stewart Framed Dots border punch, which has the perfect
sized little holes, and stitch around the border with DMC.

I'm also working on a 4th of July card using a vintage style
digi stamp.  Here it is during the coloring process, using Copic markers.
I'm still a newbie when it comes to these markers,
but it's lots of fun to learn!

Here is the stamp completely coloured. I'm still working out
the design of the card, and will share when I get finished.
The digi stamp is from my etsy shop, The Sugar Kissed Cottage.
I used Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to color in the
background of my image, to give it a more aged look.

Wanna see something REALLY scary?

I mean like Super scary?

Are you sure?

It's my paper rack.

This isn't even all of of my paper stash!
I know it looks a sight!
This is a classic case of organized chaos!
I actually do know where everything is on there.

What are you working on today?

Wishing you a day of fun, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - A Quick Hello!

Hello dear friends!
This has been a very different week for me.
My dear husband had surgery and I've
spent every day at the hospital with him.
I am happy to report that he came home
yesterday and will make a full recovery!

I am so far behind on everything!
Not to mention no time to craft or spend
any time on the computer!  I feel so out of

This is a picture I took at Dillard Mill, in
Missouri, last weekend.  It's my favorite picture
I took that day.  It brings me a lot of peace
just looking at it.  It was such a gorgeous
place and I look forward to going back for
a picnic and hike.

Thank you all for stopping by and please
forgive me for a short post!
Wishing you all much happiness!
Love, Twyla
